Nancy M. (Rush) Carey

Nancy M. Carey Turners Falls – Nancy M. (Rush) Carey, 68, of Millers Falls Road  died Monday, September 22, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.      Nancy was born in Greenfield, MA, September 21, 1946, the daughter of Francis A. and Barbara (Carey) Rush.  She grew up in Orange, graduating from Ralph C. Mahar Region High School in 1964.  She later moved to the Amherst area for 14 years and for the past 8 years has resided in Turners Falls.      Nancy worked as a home care provider for many years, enjoyed working on the computer, rubber stamping and card making and spending time with family and friends      Nancy leaves a son, Thomas Carey and his wife Theresa of New Salem; a daughter, Carol Sumner and her husband Rob of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Amanda (Carey) Rabbitt and her husband Sean, Jr. of Athol, Michael Cantini and his wife Chelsea of Oklahoma City, OK, Marilyn Cantini of Northfield, Melanie Cantini of Greenfield and Kurt Sumner of Greenfield; a great-granddaughter, Emerson Rabbitt of Athol; a brother, William Rush and his wife Linda of Spring Hill, FL; numerous nieces and nephews and her housemates of 21 years Joyce Sweeney and Maria Bonneville of Turners Falls.  She was predeceased by a sister, Sandra (Rush) Fournier and James Rush, both formerly of Orange.      Funeral services will be held Friday, September 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol with Tim Sweeney officiating.  There are no calling hours and burial will follow at South Cemetery in Orange.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Nancy’s name be made to: Franklin County Home Care, Meals on Wheels, 330 Montague City Road, Turners Falls, MA  01376.  For further information or to share a memory with the family go to:  www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com.      $(document).ready(function(){ });
