Nellie M. Ambrose

ATHOL - Nellie M. (Amistadi) Ambrose, recent resident of Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, died Monday, May 9, 2016 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol. She grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Athol as a young girl with her family. She spent the last 8 years of her life at Applewood Assisted Living. Mrs. Ambrose has been a resident of Athol for the past 70 years. She was a communicant of the St. Francis Church and Our Lady Immaculate Church, former member of the Athol Golden Age Club and the AARP. She was employed at the former Union Twist Drill for 16 years as an inspector after her family moved to Athol. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, listening to music and most of all the kindness of people and giving it back. She leaves a son: David S. Ambrose and his wife Mary Beth Ambrose; grandchildren: Ruth Ann and Luke Ambrose; one sister: Ann Ramsdell of Orange; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley F. Ambrose, who died June 2, 1982; and two brothers, Enzo Amistadi and Guido Polana. A nephew John Amistadi and a niece Denise Santucci also predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10:00 am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. No calling hours are scheduled. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331.
