Nellie (Skamarycz) Koczan

GARDNER - Nellie (Skamarycz) Koczan, 95 of Gardner, died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 13, 2021. She was born in Gardner, on January 9, 1926, the daughter of the late Julius and the late Alexandra (Rosanski) Skamarycz. Nellie grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School with the class of 1944. She provided clerical support at Heywood Wakefield, S. Bert Bros. and Standard Chair. First and foremost, Nellie was a homemaker. She was a former member of St. Joseph's Church in Gardner and recently a member of Holy Cross Church in Templeton. Nellie was a member of the Polish American Veterans Auxiliary. In addition to caring for her family, she enjoyed cooking, bus trips and summers on Cape Cod. She leaves two daughters, Joyce Koczan, Shirley Koczan and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Stanley Koczan; by three brothers, Julius Skamarycz, Peter Skamarycz, Frank Skamarycz, and by a sister, Casmera Bonk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 11:30 am in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Avenue, Templeton. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Gardner. A calling hour will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 10-11 am at the funeral home.
