Athol- Norma M. Richard, 75, of Athol, passed away at home on Saturday, January 26, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Norma was the daughter of the late Adelard and Rita (Chaisson) Ares. She was the loving wife of the late Omer J. Richard who passed away on January 1, 2006. She was the loving mother of Deborah Dube, also of Athol with whom she lived until her death.
Norma worked for the Simplex Time Recorder Co. in Gardner for many years as well for area grocery stores as a meat cutter. She was also a devoted care taker for her daughter and her family.
Some of Norma’s favorite past times included going to Foxwoods to play the slot machines, bowling and playing poker with her friends and family. She was an avid competitor and loved playing horseshoes and darts at the Peaceful Pines Campground with all of her friends.
Norma will be greatly missed by her daughter, her close friend and companion of many years, John Bulger, as well as two brothers, Adelard Ares and his wife Nancy of Athol, and Richard Ares and his wife Janet of Marshfield, MA, One sister, Lola O'Mara and her husband Roland of Marietta, GA, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, two brothers, Michael Ares, Brion Ares, and her sister Lorraine Nelson.
Calling hours will be Tuesday January 29, 2013 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm from the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home 1356 Main Street, Athol. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday January 30, 2013 at 11:00am in the Our Lady of Immaculate Church 129 School Street, Athol. Following cremation, burial will be held in the Massachusetts Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA on Friday February 8, 2013 at 1:00pm
