Norma M. Auld

ATHOL - Norma M. (Ficher) Auld, 74, of 379 West Royalston Rd, Athol, died on Sunday night, August 9, 2009 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. She was born in Springfield on June 7, 1935, the daughter of the late Edmond and the late Maude (Wixon) Ficher. Mrs. Auld was raised and educated in Springfield. She earned an Associated Degree in Business from Baypath Junior College in Longmeadow and received a Bachelors Degree in Management and Accounting from the University of Connecticut. She also attended the Springfield Institution for Savings in East Longmeadow and Greenfield Community College, studying accounting, business and philosophy. She opened "The Old Shop" and sold antiques in Ludlow for many years. She was a home-school teacher for twelve years and also owned and managed a horse farm for 36 years. She worked as an Administrative Executive Assistant for AOTV in Athol for five years. More recently, she was employed by the Salvation Army in Athol as a secretary. She enjoyed gardening and loved to read. She enjoyed spending time with her animals. She leaves three daughters, Patricia Bouthellier of Wilberham, MA, Billie Jo Auld of California, Paula Auld of Athol; her husband, Malcom Auld; and one granddaughter, Sarah Bouthellier of Wilberham, MA. She was predeceased by her daughter, Debbie Auld in 1990. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
