TEMPLETON - Norman P. "Chick" Chicoine, 85, of Templeton, died at Heywood Hospital in Gardner, on Friday, April 21, 2017 following a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 1, 1931 in Gardner, the son of Louis Chicoine Sr. and Ruth (Potter) Chicoine. He grew up in Gardner on Clark Street.
Mr. Chicoine owned and operated Chick's Auto Body on lower Parker St in Gardner with his sons for many years. He also worked at both the Chicoine Dairy and the Racette Dairy in his younger days.
He was an avid bowler and bowled perfect scores twice. He was an animal lover, a wonderful father, enjoyed traveling, and collecting and restoring antique cars.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Alice J. (Burgoyne) Chicoine; three sons, Michael A. Chicoine of Templeton, Philip J. Chicoine of Templeton, John F. Chicoine of East Templeton; two daughters, Sheila Chicoine of Hubbardston, Kathleen Cronin of Gardner; one brother, Richard Chicoine of Gardner; four sisters, Cecilia Grincewicz of Gardner, Annie "Cookie" Boudreau of Winchendon, Margaret "Peggy" Field of Gardner, June Cormier of Templeton; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nephews and nieces.
Norman was predeceased by his brother Louis Chicoine Jr..
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Ave.in East Templeton. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Templeton.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 9:15 - 10:15 AM in the Lamoureux-Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in his memory to Ahimsa Haven Animal Rescue, 381 Baldwinville Road, Templeton, MA 01468.
