LEOMINSTER - Omer J. Constant, 92 of Leominster died Sunday, May 29, 2016 in the Health Alliance Hospital Leominster.
He was born in Saint Valere Quebec Canada on March 17, 1924 one of twelve children of Calixte Constant and Marie (Morin) Constant.
He came to United States in 1946 and became a citizen on May 23rd 1958. He worked as a mechanic at Belanger's Garage, E.T. Cote and Son Garage and later he owned and operated Omer and Son’s Garage in Leominster. He later worked for Peter's Battery and then retired.
He was a member of St Cecilia’s Church and the Sacred Heart league.
He enjoyed auto mechanics, teaching auto mechanics and spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 69 years, Doris F. (Champagne) Constant; five sons, Michael G. Constant and his wife Eileen of East Hartford, Connecticut, Denis O. Constant and his wife Janice of Leominster, James M. Constant and his wife Robin of East Hartford, Connecticut, Ronnie J. Constant of Leominster, Ivan F. Constant and his wife Erika of Leominster; two daughters, Joyce A. Latuga and her husband Paul of Sterling, Linda P. Jackson and her husband Jerome of Clayton, North Carolina, Linda Gallant (David’s life long partner) of Ashburnham; a sister Rita Thibodeau of Victoriaville Quebec Canada; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son David G. Constant,by a grandson Zachary Constant, and by eight brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, June 3, 2016 at 10:30 AM in St. Cecilia’s Church 180 Mechanic St., Leominster, burial will follow in Saint Cecilia’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 2, 2016, from 5 to 8 PM at Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St., Leominster.
