TEMPLETON - Patricia H. (Lielasus) Mikita, 69 of 33 Lake Ave., Templeton, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 in the Health Alliance Leominster Campus surrounded by her family. She was born in Gardner, on December 4, 1939, the daughter of the late John M. and the late Helen L. (Merkel) Lielasus. Mrs. Mikita grew up in Fitchburg and graduated from the Spaulding Memorial School in Townsend, with the class of 1958. She resided in Townsend and Templeton briefly, before relocating to New Jersey for several years. She then moved back to Massachusetts, and has resided in Leominster, Fitchburg, and Templeton for over twenty years. She was considered an environmentally conscious woman, and started the first recycling program available in her area in Garwood, New Jersey during the early 1970s. She served as community chairman of the Girl Scouts in New Jersey for several years. Mrs. Mikita worked as a Home Health Aid for Medical Resources for twenty years, before retiring in 2009. She enjoyed volunteering her time to the Beacon of Hope in Leominster, and various local charities. She will be greatly missed by all the lives she has touched She leaves one daughter, Robin L. Mills and her partner Karl Ziarko of Andover, NJ; three step sons, Robert Mikita and his wife Elizabeth and their son, Alex Mikita of Haddonfield, NJ, Richard Mikita and his wife Sharon and their children, Nicholas Mikita and Corey Mikita of Arlington, MA, Thomas Mikita and his wife Carolyn of the San Francisco Bay area, CA; two sisters, Eleanor Murphy of Florida, Pauline Ghilardi of Leominster; three brothers, Phillip Lielasus of Florida, George Lielasus of NH, Richard Lielasus of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George Mikita, who was originally of Shelton, CT, and by her brother, John Lielasus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Cross Church, 26 Lake Ave., East Templeton. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. Calling hours will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner.
