Patricia M. Killay
Athol – Patricia M. (Wilkey) Killay, 72, of Glen Street died Monday, April 14, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Pat was born in Plattsburgh, New York on August 10, 1941, the daughter of Clarence and Alma (Gebo) Wilkey. She grew up in Athol where she has lived most of her life, graduating from Athol High School in 1959 and from Becker Junior College in Worcester.
Pat worked as a secretary at the Athol Middle School, Mahar Regional High School and later the University of Mass, Amherst until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and taught CCD classes for many years. She also helped the shawl group making many shawls to comfort the sick.
Pat was dedicated to her family, enjoying Sunday dinners with her family, birthdays and holidays. She loved vacations in Maine and in 2004 fulfilled her dream when she and Patrick visited Ireland. They enjoyed their time there and the many friends they made. They were also delighted to visit Prince Edward Island. Pat was very proud of her grandchildren and the time she spent with them. She also loved her cats Augustus, Jigs and Gigi. Pat was loving and caring with a strong faith in God and her church.
Pat leaves her husband of 44 years, Patrick and their four children, Megan Guevin and her husband Robert of Athol, Kevin Killay and his wife Kristen of Royalston, Coleen and her wife Jillian of Athol and Colin Killay and his wife Amy of Warwick. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, Kyle, Allison and Haley Euvard, Loryn, Rachel, Brady, Brian, Brennan and Erin Killay, Elise and Amelie Killay-Rostuck. She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Alma Wilkey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol with the Rev. Fr. Krzysztof Korcz, pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday, April 21st from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Our Father’s Table, c/o Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol, MA 01331.
