Patrick E. Killay Athol – Patrick E. Killay, 69, of Glen Street died Saturday, October 4, 2014 at his home.      Patrick was born in Athol, Massachusetts, September 29, 1945, the son of Paul and Mayree (Turner) Killay.  He grew up and lived in Athol all of his life, graduating from Athol High School in 1963.  Later in his life he attended Mt. Wachusett Community College and the University of Mass in Amherst receiving his BA degree in speech pathology.  Patrick served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, serving in Greece and Guatemala Bay.      He worked for the former New England Telephone and Verizon for many years as a technician and lineman.   He was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, former member of the Knights of Columbus and member of Our Father’s Table.  Patrick was very dedicated to his family, enjoying Sunday dinners together, birthdays and holidays.  He loved vacations in Maine and in 2004 fulfilled his dream when he and Pat along with Kevin and his wife Kristen visited Ireland and enjoyed their time there and the many friends they made.  They were also delighted to visit Prince Edward Island.  Patrick was very proud of his grandchildren and the time he spent with them.  He also loved his cats Augustus and Jigs.        His wife of 44 years, Patricia M. (Wilkey) Killay died April 14, 2014.  He also leaves his four children, Megan Guevin and her husband Robert of Athol, Kevin Killay and his wife Kristen of Royalston, Colleen Killay and her wife Jillian Rostuck of Athol and Colin Killay and his wife Amyay of Warwick; 11 grandchildren, Kyle, Allison and Haley Euvrard, Loryn, Rachel, Brady, Brian, Brennan and Erin Killay, Elise and Amelie Killay-Rostuck.  He also leaves a brother, Dennis Killay and his wife Patricia of Phillipston; two sisters, Margaret White and her husband Dick of Orange and Mel Sisson and her husband Bob of Athol.  Besides his wife he was predeceased by a brother Michael.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol with the Rev. Father Edwin Montana, pastor officiating.  Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery and there will be a calling hour Wednesday from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests contribution in Patrick’s memory to Our Father’s Table, c/o Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol, MA 01331.  For further information or to share a memory with the family go to: www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com.   $(document).ready(function(){ });
