Paul Robert Gaillardet Sr, a beloved father, granddad, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully on Friday, September 10, 2021, at his family’s home after having lost his fight with congestive heart failure. He was 89 years old. Paul passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Paul, born in Leominster, Massachusetts, served in the Air Force from 1948 – 1968. Paul served in the Korean War and in Vietnam and retired in 1968 as master sergeant. He later attended Southwestern State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude in Pharmacy with studies toward a doctorate in Toxicology. Paul was a member of Rho Chi Pharmaceutical Honor Society and the American Pharmaceutical Association. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Woods Lynch Post 19 in Midland, Texas and Elks Lodge 309 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Paul owned and managed two pharmacies located in Pecos, Texas and Carlsbad, New Mexico. Paul was recently honored for maintaining his pharmacy license for 50-years.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his family going to the shooting range, cooking and his prior hobbies included flying, fishing, hunting and sky diving.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Robert Joseph Gaillardet and Eva Marie (Cormier) Gaillardet, brother Robert Gaillardet and his wife Gloria, nephew Gary Davis and brother-in-law Robert Davis.
He leaves behind his three children, A. Renée Gaillardet, Paul R. Gaillardet II, Craig M. Gaillardet and his wife Lacy and seven grandchildren, Shawn M. Gaillardet, Ryan G. Meza, Aaron P. Meza, Tyler M. Gaillardet, Addyson Gaillardet, Gunner Gaillardet and Jayden Wagler. He is also survived by his sister, Charlene Davis, and nephews Todd and Jeff Davis, as well as extended relatives and many close friends.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 10:30a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA 01453. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Leominster, MA.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster.
