Paul Leo Lemieux

BALDWINVILLE - Paul Leo Lemieux, 77, of Baldwinville and formerly of Leominster, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at home with his family from complications due to ALS (Lou Gehrig's) disease. He was born in Barton, Vermont on July 13, 1932, the son of the late Frederick and the late Florida (Mailhot) Lemieux. Mr. Lemieux moved to Ashburnham, Massachusetts with his family when he was six years old, attending Cushing Academy and graduating from Fitchburg High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Fulton from 1951 to 1955 and earned several commendations. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Lemieux joined the Army Reserves attaining the rank of CW4 during his 21-year career as a Reservist. He had resided in Baldwinville for the past four years and was a former resident of Leominster for 45 years. He worked as a Federal Civil Service Employee in Fort Devens for 31 years and also held various part-time jobs over the years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. As a child, he was a member of St. Cecilia's Church in Leominster, later becoming a fifty-year member of St. Leo's Church in Leominster. More recently, Mr. Lemieux was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Baldwinville. His hobbies include restoring furniture, yard work and browsing yard sales. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time with his loving family. He leaves his wife of fifty years, Audrey A. (Maston) Lemieux; one son, David A. Lemieux of Worcester; three daughters, Doreen P. Hutchins and her husband Christopher of Londonderry, NH, Lisa A. Lemieux of Panama City Beach, FL, Amy M. Parker and her husband Benjamin, III of Baldwinville; two brothers, Roland Lemieux of Leominster, Raymond Lemieux of Ft. Meyers, FL; one sister, Georgette O'Donnell of West Palm Beach, FL; eleven grandchildren, Paul Irizarry, Matthew Acker, Colin Acker, Katherine Hutchins, Abigail Hutchins, Emily Lemieux, Alexander Lemieux, Grace Lemieux, Michael Lemieux, Nicholas Valeri, and Andrew Parker. He was predeceased by his brother, Sergeant First Class Albert Lemieux who died in action during the Korean War; and by two sisters, Laura LaFortune and Lorraine Bosselait. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker Street, Leominster. Burial in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Leominster will be in the spring.
