Paul F. Savoy, Sr. Athol – Paul Francis Savoy, Sr., 88, of Jordan Drive died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.      Paul was born in Athol, Massachusetts, December 29, 1925, the son of Francis X. and Caroline (Rousselle) Savoy.  He grew up in Athol where he has lived all of his life, graduating from Athol High School in 1943.      Paul served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  Following his discharge he worked in construction for several years, later purchasing the former Athol Lobster House which he operated from 1962 until 1974.   He then went to work for the Athol- Royalston Regional School district for many years until his retirement.      He was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, the Athol Council of the Knights of Columbus, the Roy L. Boyce V.F.W. and the Franco-American Naturalization Club.  Paul loved going to Shippigen, New Brunswick, Canada to visit family.  He loved music, playing cards and was in numerous minstrel shows.  Paul was full of life, always bringing a smile to everyone in his presence with his many stories and was a natural born entertainer.       He leaves two sons, Paul F. Savoy, Jr. of Panama City Beach, FL and Frank X. Savoy of Athol; two daughters, Denise Cross of Bingham, ME and Michelle Kennedy of Athol; two grandchildren, Cory and Cera Kennedy of Athol; a brother, David R. Savoy of Bellows Falls, VT and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Colleen R. (Howard) Savoy, a daughter Debra, two brothers, Ernest and Edmund and three sisters, Eldora Mallet, Melda Cloukey and Viola Derrnger.      A graveside service with Military Honors will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Gethsemane Cemetery in Athol with the Rev. Fr. Krzysztof Korcz, pastor of Our Lady Immaculate Church officiating.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Paul’s name be made to: the Gardner VNA Hospice, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440 or the Athol Animal Shelter, for the care of animals, c/o Athol Police Department, 280 Exchange Street, Athol, MA 01331.   Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol is directing arrangements.  For further information or to share a memory with the family go to: www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com.                                                                                   $(document).ready(function(){ });
