ATHOL - Paul A. Smialek, 48 of 868 North Orange Rd., Athol, died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 in Athol Memorial Hospital. He was born in New London, CT, on November 11, 1958, the son of Edward Smialek and Winifred (Given) Smialek. Paul grew up in Gardner and attended Gardner Schools. He played football for Gardner High School. He served in the US Army for 4 years. He was a self employed Carpenter and was the owner of God´s Wood Carpentry of Athol. Paul was a member of the P.A.C.C. of Gardner. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Athol. He enjoyed fishing, canoing, swimming and sports. He leaves his wife of seven years: Charlene (Elwell) Smialek; his father: Edward Smialek of FL., his mother: Winifred Smialek of Garnder, his sister: Kathy Wylie of Gardner; his four brothers: Patrick Smialek of FL, Edward Smialek of OR, Peter Smialek of Quincy, MA, David Montville of Gardner; his Step Daughter, Melissa Desreuisseau and his step-grandson Andrew Desreuisseau of Orange. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10:00 am in the St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Saturday, September 1, from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home, 137 Main St., Athol.
