GARDNER- Paula M. (Lavis) Haley, 69, of Gardner, formerly of Townsend, died Tuesday, April 4, after a brief illness.
She was born March 5, 1948, daughter of the late William Lavis Sr. and the late Georgette (Bates) Lavis. She was a long time resident of Townsend, residing there from 1978 until 2004 when she moved to Gardner. She worked in health and human services. She also volunteered at Heywood Hospital and the Gardner Senior Center.
Mrs. Haley was a very caring and giving person. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening, was an avid reader, going to the movies, fishing, and spending time with family at their cottage at Grand Lake Stream, Maine.
She was predeceased by her husband, John L. Haley, Jr. who died in 1999.
She leaves her son, James Haley and his wife, Cherie of Gardner; two grandchildren, Megan R. and David L. Haley; two brothers, Michael and William Lavis of Gardner; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Monday, April 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in Lamoureux-Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home, a Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 11, at 11:00 AM in the First Congregational Church, 28 Green St., Gardner. Burial will be private.
