GARDNER - Pearl A. (Cosentino) Conlan, 91 of Gardner, died Friday, January 26, 2018 in the Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner.
She was born in Gardner on March 22, 1926, the daughter of the late William P. and the late Nellie R. (Betty) Cosentino. Pearl grew up in Gardner and was a lifelong resident.
Pearl worked for Conant & Ball Company for many years, and also worked for Betty & LaRoche Company in Gardner. Pearl was an avid seamstress, handcrafted clothing for her children and grandchildren, drapery that framed many windows, made countless pocketbooks, pencil cases, and toiletry bags for family and friends, and upholstered furniture. She loved cooking, baking cakes and cookies, and made the best grilled cheese sandwiches and Italian cookies. Pearl loved spending time with family and friends, and as the 2nd oldest of 17, there was never a shortage of siblings, cousins, or friends to commiserate with.
She served many local Gardnerites at the Campus where she met her husband Walter and worked for years at Fran’s Variety. She loved all Boston sports especially the Red Sox and the Celtics. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church and often walked to weekly Mass with her husband when they resided on Sunset Road in South Gardner.
She leaves two daughters: Mary E. Cormier and her husband John of Delray Beach, FL, Katherine L. Daddario and her husband Louis of Spring,Texas; two sons, Rev. Walter J. Conlan, Jr. S.J. of Boston College, Michael E. Conlan and his significant other Janice Byrd of Tucker, GA; two sisters, Theresa Cosentino, and Bernadette Canu and her husband Nino of Delray Beach, FL, two brothers, Patrick Cosentino of Winchendon, and Anthony Cosentino and his wife Diane of E. Templeton. Three Grandchildren, Lynn (Cormier) Sayarath and her husband Sommay and their children Jaiden and Tai of Templeton, whom Pearl lived with in 2013, Amy (Cormier) Rameau and her husband Daniel and their children Daniel Jr. and Drew of Wesley Chapel, FL, and Paul Daddario of Spring TX.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Walter J. Conlan who died in 2015, four sisters Rosaline, Louise, Laura, Antoinette, and six brothers William Jr., Francis, John, Paul, Joe, and Raymond.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the staff at the Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, East 2, who provided exemplary care throughout Pearl’s four years residing at the facility, and the Gardner VNA Hospice staff who assisted during her final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 10:30 am in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St., Gardner. Burial will follow in Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the Lamoureux-Smith & Poliks Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the House of Peace and Education, 33 Parker Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
