Gardner- Peter K. Dora, 73, Of Gardner, passed away on Tuesday April 16, 2013 in the Quabbin Valley Nursing Center in Athol following a short illness. Peter was born on June 21, 1939 in Templeton, the son of Joseph and Evelyn (Brooks) Dora.
Peter graduated from Templeton High School and attended Mount Wachusett Community College where he earned his Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then worked for Rodney Hunt in Orange as a sale engineer for 35 years. Peter enjoyed working outside in his yard, traveling, reading, spending time with family and his grandchildren, and fishing.
Peter leaves behind his wife of 27 years; Dorothy Karen Dora, two sons; Michael Dora and his wife Kimm of Royalston, and Timothy Jaillet and his wife Beth of Athol, three daughters; Dawn Benincaso and her husband Phillip of Philipston, Theresa Salamone and her fiancé’ Rodney Cepeda of Templeton, and Christine Peterson of Gardner, two brothers; Raymond Dora of Templeton, and Connie Dora of Phoenix, AZ, two sisters; Beverly Trueheart of Athol, and Martha Dora of Winchendon, Eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, his first wife; Sandra (Avery) Dora who passed away in July 1978, two brothers; Joseph and Robert Dora, and two sisters; Pat Aalto and Hope Nichols.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the Poliks Funeral Home 431 Pleasant Street, Gardner. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Church 358 Pleasant Street Gardner on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:00am. Burial with full Military Honors will immediately follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
