ATHOL - Philip H. Amadon, 85 of Athol, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in the Golden Living Center, Fitchburg.
He was born in Gardner on November 30, 1931, the son of the late Wesley M. and the late Martha I. (Leschner) Amadon.
He worked for New England Telephone as a Lineman and retired in 1989 after 35 years. He was a member of the IBEW Union.
Mr. Amadon served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of A.A.R.P., the Tully City Council Club, and was a Boy Scout Leader.
He leaves two daughters, Chris A. Blake and her husband Steven of Arvada, CO Dawn M. Sandoval and her husband Stephen of Gardner, three sons, Garold P. Amadon of Athol, James M. Amadon and his wife Talin of Watham, Michael P. Amadon and his wife Colleen of Athol; two sisters, Merle J. Weber of Gardner, Betty A. O'Brien of Gardner; one brother, John L. Amadon of Pennsylvania, 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Alice K. (McCarthy) Amadon who died in 2009 by two brothers, Richard G. Amadon who died in the Korean War and Wesley M. Amadon Jr., and by one sister Virginia M. Conti.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange. Burial with military honors will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 10-11 a.m.
