PETERSHAM - Philip W. Amidon 84 of 28 Amidon Drive, Petersham, died Monday, April 9,2007, in Athol Memorial Hospital after an illness. He was born April 4,1923 in Petersham the son of the late Clarence R. and Mabel (Harris) Amidon and was a lifelong resident of Petersham. He leaves his wife of (61)years, Barbara(Wallquist)Amidon of Petersham, two sons,Marc Amidon and his wife Barbara of West Dennis MA, and Bradford Amidon and his fiance Rosemary DiPerri of Winchendon MA; one daughter,Terry Matteson and her husband Theodore of Orange; four grandchildren, MaryLouise Delmonico of Skaneateles New York, Philip Amidon of West Dennis MA, Leigha Matteson and Joshua Matteson both of Orange. He was predeceased by two brothers, Roderick and Donald Amidon. Before retirement Mr. Amidon worked at Rodney Hunt Co.and WHIPPS Company as a Mechanical Engineer. He was a member of the First Congregational Parish Unitarian Church in Petersham Ma, where he was active in various church comittees. He was also a member of the Petersham Brass Band for (68)Years, a member of the Petersham School comittee, Petersham Finanace Committee and the Petersham Crime Watch. He enjoyed farming, music, band, woodworking,lumbering and gardening. Calling hours will be held Friday, April 13, 2007, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home 1356 Main St. Athol. Funeral services and burial will be private at the convienience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Petersham Brass Band in care of Robert LaFond 276 West Road, Petersham, MA 01366.
