Mount Airy, NC- Mr. Philip A. Laperriere, 82, of 211 West Lebanon Street, a former longtime Winchendon,MA resident, died Friday, May 10, 2002, at home. His wife, Claire M. (Robichaud) Laperriere died in 1994. He was born in Winchendon, April 28, 1920, son of Frederick and Isabelle (Martin) Laperriere, and had lived many years in Winchendon before moving to Mt. Airy in 1993.
Mr. Laperriere worked as a custodian for the Winchendon School system before his retirement in 1985. While in Winchendon, he was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and was an active volunteer of its "Good as New" thrift shop.
He leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline M. Bradshaw and her husband Robert; and Yvonne M. Michaud and her husband Gerald, all of Mt. Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter Laperriere and his wife Kathy of Winchendon; and Francis Laperriere and his wife Mary of Connecticut; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Elia Laperriere of Winchendon; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Laperriere of Templeton and Loraine Laperriere of Jaffrey, NH. He was predeceased by a son, Philip A. Laperriere, Jr. and three brothers, Urvin Laperriere, Eugene Laperriere, and Joseph Laperriere.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street, Athol. Rev. Stephen D. Johnson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Gardner Visiting Nursing Association-Hospice Program, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
