GARDNER- Phyllis Claire "Duzzy" (Jones) Brooks, 87, of Gardner, died peacefully, Thursday, February 15, in her home. She was born September 24, 1930, in Oak Park, Illinois, daughter of the late Llewelyn and Eleanor (Innis) Jones.  Phyllis graduated from Gardner High School in 1948, and from Simmons College in 1952. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Gardner. Phyllis enjoyed skiing, horseback riding, hiking, camping, walking, and swimming. She started running with the North Medford Club at age 60. She and her husband, Steve, were race directors for the Lake Winnepasaukee Relay. She was a Girl Scout leader and loved reading mystery novels. She enjoyed hosting backyard parties after the first home Gardner High School football game. She leaves one son, Calvin Brooks; two daughters, Dale Behar and her husband, Salvador, Linda Sobaje and her husband, Stephen; four grandchildren, Carol Caruso, Elias Behar, Claire Behar, and Christopher Sobaje; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Jones. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Stephen A. Brooks, her granddaughter, Sherri Bergstrom Brooks, and her brother, Stanley A. Jones. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Living Memorial Fund, First Congregational Church, 28 Green St., Gardner, MA 01440, or to the Levi Heywood Memorial Library, 55 W.
