GARDNER - Phyllis Evelyn (Haidukiewicz) Casey, 85, of Kendall Pond in Gardner, and of Palmetto Bay, FL passed away on August 6, 2016. She was born in Gardner, MA and grew up on Emerald Street, working at her father's store, Stanley's Market. She graduated from Gardner High School and Clark University with a bachelor's in mathematics and went on to receive two more degrees in computers and programming. In later years she avidly studied Mayan Archeology and traveled to many Central and South American sites. Phyllis married Kenneth Casey and gave birth to their daughter, Felicia Evelyn. They lived in Cherry Point and Springfield where she taught school and then moved to Berlin, Germany with Pan American Airlines. In 1966 they moved to Miami, FL their permanent home with lifelong friends. Summers were enjoyed in their second home in Gardner, MA along with many world travels. Phyllis was a founder and daily communicant at St. Richard Catholic Church and an avid member of the Legion of Mary, operated the Sunday school and for many years she was president of The St. Richard Women's Club along with her beloved involvement with book club and many bridge club activities. With the birth of her granddaughters, Ashley Evelyn and Sabrina Richelle Anderson she enjoyed every moment with them and was the quintessential "Dance Grammie." Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth. She is survived by her daughter, Felicia and her son in law Richard Fenner Anderson III; granddaughters, Ashley and Sabrina.
Catholic services were held in Palmetto Bay, FL and now she will be placed in her final resting spot, with a graveside service held with family and friends at St. John's Cemetery on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:00AM.
