HUBBARDSTON - Phyllis Darrah Johnson, 75, wife of Robert Johnson passed away unexpectedly at home on July 1, 2016. Phyllis was born April 21, 1941 in Holden. She is the daughter of the late David and the late Anna (Darrah) Darrah. Phyllis graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1959 and Leo's hairdressing Academy in 1960. She had a career as a hairdresser spanning over 57 years. She was the hairdresser for the Holden Nursing Home for the past 49 years as well as working for various funeral homes for over 40 years. She was born and raised in Rutland where she lived most of her life and was an active member of the Congregational Church of Rutland and the Historical Society of Rutland until moving to Hubbardston 20 years ago. Phyllis’s heritage always went back to her life on the Darrah Farm in Rutland which celebrated 100 years this year. She enjoyed trips to Vermont to visit family and most of all spending time in her beautiful historic home that she was so proud of. She is survived by her husband of 20 years: Robert Johnson of Hubbardston; her three children: Kimberly Army and her partner, Fred Mabardy of Southborough, Phillip Martin and his wife Amy of Paxton, and Suzanne Adamiak and her husband Neal of Rutland; four grandchildren: Chelsea Army, Hannah Martin, Hollianna and Jacob Adamiak; one brother, Alan Darrah and his wife Sharron of Rutland; and her former husband, Fred Martin. The memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 9, at Rutland Congregational Church, 264 Main Street, Rutland.
