ATHOL - Phyllis B. (Tootill) Joly, 84, of 132 Grove St., Athol, and formerly of 3671 South Athol Rd., died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in the Athol Memorial Hospital in Athol.
She was born in Ware on August 1, 1924, the daughter of the late Walter and Viola (Fontaine) Tootill.
Mrs. Joly attended local schools and graduated from Athol High School. She worked as a machinist at L.S. Starrett Tool Company for 35 years. She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church, and a member of the former Vikings Club in Athol. She enjoyed playing computer games online, and loved spending time with her grandsons.
She leaves two sons, Arthur E. Joly, Jr. of Manchester, NH, Thomas P. Joly and his wife Ann of North Smithfield, RI; two daughters, Theresa A. Allen of Athol, Joan M. Joly of Leominster; one sister, Shirley Koziol of Otter River; three grandchildren, Andrew J. Allen of Athol, Eric T. Joly and Timothy E. Joly, both of North Smithfield, RI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Arthur E. Joly, Sr. who died in 1994 and also by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the J. Edward Murphy Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery in Athol.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home Friday, August 22, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
