ATHOL - Prudence A. (Stone) Blake, 92, of Athol, died on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare in Athol surrounded by her loving family.
Prudence was born in Athol on October 18, 1919, the daughter of Herbert A. and Sabra R. (Ball) Stone. She was a lifelong resident of Athol and graduated from Athol High School with the class of 1938.
Many years ago, Mrs. Blake worked for the L.S. Starrett Tool Company and the former Ansin Shoe Company. She was a member of the Athol Congregational Church, a life member of the Athol American Legion, the Golden Agers and the Ellinwood and Petersham Country Clubs for many years. Mrs. Blake was the golf club champion for several years at the Ellinwood Country Club and shot a career low round of 73 at Ellinwood. She helped plan and run several senior golf tournaments at Ellinwood. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed baking.
She leaves her daughter, Cheryl R. Cloukey of Orange; one sister, Marguerite Butler of Orange; one brother, Richard Stone of Orange; two grandchildren, Kelly Walsh and her husband John of Orange, Steve Dahl of New Hampshire and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-nine years, Frank R. Blake, in 1999; by three brothers, Leslie A. Stone, Halbert L. Stone, Ronald Stone, by a sister, Mildred Alden and by a granddaughter, Lisa Dahl.
A graveside service in Silver Lake Cemetery will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association – Hospice Program, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
