ATHOL- R. Blair Bremner, 92, of Athol, died Saturday, January 26, at Quabbin Valley Health Care.
Blair was born July 2, 1926, in Saugus, MA, son of the late Foster and Janet (Jardine) Bremner. He grew up in New Brunswick and married Emma L. MacPherson on June 20, 1946. They moved to Athol in 1947. Blair worked for L.S. Starrett for 39 years, retiring in 1986. After retirement, he was a charter bus driver for Wilson Bus Company.
Blair was a member of the Shrine Lodge of Masons and was Past Master at the Star Lodge of Masons. He was also a member of Starrett Memorial Methodist Church where he served on several boards. He enjoyed traveling and camping.
He leaves his wife of 72 years, Emma L. (MacPherson) Bremner; one son, David Bremner and wife, Vicky of Gardner; six grandchildren, Devon Bremner and wife, Andrea, Dr. Kelly Bremner, Ethan Bremner and wife, Lisa, Molly Wood Bremner and husband, Shad, Jessica Boudreau and husband, Paul, and Gregory Baker-Fitzgerald and wife, Heather; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Bryenton and husband, Newton of Millerton, New Brunswick, and Phyllis Sweeney and husband, Donald of Chatham, New Brunswick.
Calling hours are Saturday, February 2, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M. at Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Starrett Memorial Methodist Church, 40 Island St., Athol, MA 01331.
