LADY LAKE - Ralph J. Duteau, Jr, 83, of Lady Lake, FL, died Friday, March 21, 2008. He previously lived in the Athol and Orange area.
He was born in Hartford, CT on March 12, 1926 to the late Marguerite (LaShier) and Ralph Duteau Sr.
Ralph went to school in Orange and Athol, graduating from Athol High School in 1947 after enlisting and serving in the United States Navy in World War II from 1943 to 1946 aboard the USS Trenton.
Ralph worked for Clarence O. Wells Carpentry, the Union Twist Drill and the Athol Post Office for 30 years before retirement.
During his life Ralph enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking and after moving to Florida, became an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shirley (Howe) Duteau; three children by his former wife, Dorothy E. (Wells) Duteau: Brian Duteau and Douglas Duteau, both of Athol, Carol Schweinsberg of Mendon, NY; his grand daughter Avriel of Mendon, NY; four nieces; two nephews; five step-children, Cheryl Warren, Patricia Burke, Kathleen Burke, James Burke and his wife Brenda, Jeffrey Burke and his wife Kathy; eight step grandchildren and eleven step great-grandchildren.
Ralph was predeceased by his parents; by his twin brother Georgie Duteau, and by his brother Robert Duteau.
Graveside services will be held at South Cemetery in Orange at a later date.
