Raymond Robert "Bob" Yelle

FITCHBURG - Raymond Robert "Bob" Yelle, 76, of 408 Daniel Street, Fitchburg, died Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Health Alliance Leominster Campus after an illness. He was born in Leominster on June 18, 1934, the son of the late Raymond and the late Lucienne (Belanger) Yelle. Bob was raised and educated in Leominster. He served during the Korean War in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1957. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, Mr. Yelle resided in Lynn and worked as a plumber in the Boston area for several years. Bob moved to Fitchburg with his family in 1970 and worked as Manager of Aubuchon Hardware in Leominster for over ten years. More recently, Mr. Yelle was employed as a truck driver for various companies. He was the former president of the North American Family Campers Association Chapter 30 and was State Deputy Director of their Association. Bob was also the Commander of the American Legion Post #151 in Leominster. He enjoyed researching genealogy, gardening and going camping with his wife and family. He leaves his wife of fifty-two years, Phyllis Roberta (Moore) Yelle; his son, Brian Yelle and his wife Darlene of Winchendon; a daughter, Suzanne (Robuccio) Taylor and her husband Ronald of Pompano Beach, Florida; a daughter in-law, Ann Yelle of Phillipston; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and two more on the way; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Yelle, on June 13, 2009, and by two brothers, Adrien Yelle in 2008 and Leo Yelle who died during the Korean War. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon. Those attending the service are requested to meet directly at the cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday, August 23, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker Street, Leominster.
