LEOMINSTER - Regina Marie (Letarte) Janelle, 93, formerly of Leominster, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 in the Cedar Glen Nursing Home, Danvers. Regina was born in Leominster on March 13, 1917, the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose (Legere) Letarte. She is a graduate of St. Cecilia's School and of Leominster High School, class of 1935. She was a resident of Leominster for over 80 years and a communicant of St. Cecilia's. Regina worked for the former Wachusett Shirt Factory, in the Leominster High School Cafeteria and in the meat department of Janelle's Market, earning her the nickname, "The Hamburg Lady." Regina was known for her wonderful sense of humor and for her creative art work. She enjoyed painting with oils, acrylics, pastels and charcoal. Her family cherishes her many beautiful paintings. She leaves four children, Marguerite Janelle of Farmington, CT, Lucille Twiss of Danvers, Claire Tapply of Danbury, NH, Thomas Janelle of Bridgewater, NH; seven grandchildren, David Twiss of Danvers, Leila Coe of Oregon, Gordon Tapply, Nathan Tapply, Thomas Janelle, Jr., Nicolette Janelle, Courtney Janelle, all of NH; seven great grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Genevieve, Zackary, Brinley, Morgan and Avan; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of forty-nine years, Henri Janelle, on January 3, 1989; also by her brothers and sister. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Those attending the Mass are requested to meet at the church. Burial in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Leominster, will be in the spring. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Saint Patrick's Haitian Ministry, P.O. Box 287, Collinsville, CT 06022. $(document).ready(function(){ });
