ATHOL - Regina M. (Savoy) Walsh of Applewood Nursing Home in Winchester, NH, formerly of Athol, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the age of 106.
Regina was born in Cowens Creek, NB, on May 17, 1905, the daughter of the late George and the late Bassilice (Savoy) Savoy and one of thirteen children.
She leaves two sons: James W. Walsh and his wife Celia of Athol, Norman G. Walsh and his wife Irene of North Orange; one daughter: Beverly J. (Walsh) Theroux and her husband Edward of Athol; four grandchildren: Sally (Theroux) White and her husband Philip of Tilton, NH, Robert Theroux and his wife Carol of Hudson, NH, Douglas Walsh and his wife Jean of North Orange, Carol (Theroux) Walker and her husband Brian of Athol; seven great grandchildren: Jennifer and Brian White, Nathan and Nicholas Walsh, Michael Theroux, Tonya and Heather Blundon; four great great grandchildren: Patrik, Kylah, Joey and Jordyn; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband James M. Walsh; and by her five brothers and seven sisters.
Regina was an active part of the thrift shop at St. John’s Episcopal Church for many years and worked in the Frances Shop in Athol. She was active with all the activities when living at Applewood Nursing Home in Winchester, NH. She was the proud recipient of many trophies for bowling and medals for her part in the Special Olympics. She loved playing cards, bowling and being with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, 15 Park Avenue, Athol. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange, MA 01364
