LEOMINSTER - Rene J. Hebert, 86, of 291 Joslin St. Leominster, died early Tuesday morning June 30, 2009 at home after an illness.
He was born January 29, 1923 in Schenectady New York the son of the late Elie Hebert and Emelda (LaBranche ) Hebert and came to Massachusetts many years ago.
He leaves his wife of 26 years, Doris M. (Aubinger) Hebert of Leominster; four brothers, Armand, Richard, Wallace and Norbit Hebert, all of New York ; two sisters, Therese Jurczynski and Bernadette Bintz, both of New York; also many nephews and nieces.
A brother, Bernard Hebert of New York, predeceased him.
Mr Hebert held both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Theology and Philosophy, attended Catholic University of America in Washington DC, and was ordained a catholic priest in June 1950. He was a Missionary of LaSalette for many years, and a parish priest in the Diocese of Worcester.
After leaving the Diocese he pursued a career as a Social Worker for the Department of Social Services for ten years, and a Court Interpreter for eleven years, he also worked as a French and Spanish interpreter for Cross Cultural Communications until the present.
He loved spiritual reading, computers, language books, cycling, nature and animals.
He was a member of the Fitchburg Knights of Columbus Council 99.
The funeral will be held on Thursday July 2,2009 from the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St. Leominster, with an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St Cecilia's Church 180 Mechanic St.Leominster MA. Burial will follow in St Leo's Cemetery, Leominster.
