LEOMINSTER------Richard E."Skip" Caissey 62 of Leominster died July 19, 2011 in Health Alliance Hospital Leominster after an illness.
He was born October 5, 1948 in Leominster MA the son of the late Richard J. Caissey and Leda M. (Nichols) Caissey and was a lifelong Leominster resident.
He leaves his sister Gloria Hazelgreen and her husband Richard of Stafford Virginia, his niece, great nephew and great niece.
Richard was an 11 year US Army Veteran serving in the Military Police. He entered the Army in 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1980 attaining the rank of SGT. He served overseas in both Europe and in Vietnam receiving awards for Marksman, M-16 Rifle Sharpshooter, 45 Caliber Pistol, Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award) National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 2 overseas Bars, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
He was Past National Commander of the Franco American War Veterans and a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He enjoyed reading and participating in all patriotic events.
A funeral service will be held on Friday July 22, 2011 at 12pm in Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St Leominster. Burial will follow in Winchendon Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday morning July 22, 2011 are from 10pm-12pm.
Please omit flowers donations in his name can be made to the PFC Jonathan Roberge Memorial Park Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
