Richard Alfred Chartier, 74, died at his home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 .
He was the husband of the late Claudette M. (Doucette) Chartier, to whom he was married for 27 years.
Richard was born in Gardner, on March 2, 1950, son of the late Alfred H. and Irene C. (Fontaine) Chartier. He was a 1969 graduate of Narragansett High School worked for his father at AH Chartier Trucking from 1968 to1975 and owned and operated RA Chartier Excavations from 1975 to1988. He was also part owner of C & T Coal company for several years.
Richard enjoyed talking on the CB Radio, taking trips to York, Maine, and working on the the Santa Maria Ship for parades in Templeton. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Otter River.
He is survived by a sister, Rochelle Reams, of Ardata, CO, nieces and nephews, and several beloved cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Bruce Chartier.
Calling hours for Richard will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 4 to 6pm at Mack Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 10 in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 18 Pleasant Street, Baldwinville, MA, followed by a burial at Greenlawn Cemetery, Bridge Street, Templeton, MA.
