Richard "Dino" Colombo

GARDNER- Richard “Dino” Colombo, 84, of Gardner, died Sunday, June 8, in the Baldwinville Skilled Nursing Center, after an illness. Mr. Colombo was born July 25, 1929, in Brockton, son of the late Michelangelo and Genevieve (Ferraro) Colombo. While living in Brockton, Dino became an exceptional athlete and had many fond memories of his friendship with Rocky Marciano and all of his extended family living in Brockton.  He went on to earn his undergraduate degree in Social Science and his Master’s Degree in Education from Boston University.   Dino lived in Brockton until 1957, when he married Elaine (Boeshe) and moved to Gardner where they raised their family and he started a physical therapy private practice.   In his free time, Dino loved to spend time vacationing with his family in Truro and with his close friends in Aruba. Dino was also a very talented sculptor and over the years has donated many sculptures to family and friends. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Elaine (Boeshe) Colombo; two sons, Richard Colombo of Leominster, and David Colombo of Somerville; one daughter, Claudia Swapp and her husband, Russell of Andover; two brothers, Armand Colombo of Brockton, and Vincent “Tully” Colombo of NC; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Michael, and Louis Colombo, and his sister, Millicent “Millie” Raymond. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 12, at 11:00 A.M.  at Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St., Gardner. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Wednesday, June 11, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
