Richard E. (Dick) Shaw

WESLEY CHAPEL, FLORIDA - Richard E. (Dick) Shaw, 74, Former Cutting Tool Executive, of Wesley Chapel, Florida and formerly of Athol, passed away January 3, 2011 at HPH Hospice Well Care Center, Dade City, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Jr. and Evelyn (Burwood) Shaw, and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie (Witmer) Shaw; son, Thomas; daughters, Diane; and Sandra (Robert) Boyd; and step-daughter, Lori Lee. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, three sisters, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; cousins and many nieces and nephews. Dick was born in Athol, MA and graduated from Athol High School in 1954 and was a great baseball player. He went through the Union Twist Drill Apprentice program. He was co-owner in several small businesses. He held the positions of engineer, general manager and vice president of manufacturing in the cutting tool field throughout the U.S. Dick migrated to Florida in 1993 when he retired and started his own business. Dick touched the lives of many people and leaves a lasting legacy of personal and professional relationships, many of whom still maintain contact, throughout the country. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol. A calling hour will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home 137 Main St., Athol. .
