ATHOL - Richard D. Marquis, Sr., 77 of 625 Cottage St., Athol, died Thursday, January 8, 2015 in the Athol Hospital, Athol. He was born in Athol, on March 7, 1937, the son of the late Leo R. and the late Irene (Chicione) Marquis. Mr. Marquis was a lifelong resident of Athol, attending local schools and graduating from Athol High School with the Class of 1957.  He had previously worked for the former Athol Table and the former Gem Industry in Gardner many years ago.  He later worked for the L.S. Starrett Tool Company for twenty-seven years until his retirement in 2005.  He was a member of the Athol Golden Agers and Our Lady Immaculate Church in Athol.  He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins.  He enjoyed camping in New Hampshire and spending time with his family. He leaves one daughter: Kelly M. Petrin and her husband Rodney of Sunapee and one son: Raymond W. Marquis and his wife Diane of Athol; one daughter-in-law:  Cindy Foster of Greenfield; two sisters: Gloria Robichaud of Athol, Rita Bachelor and her husband Clifford of Athol; one brother: Raymond J. Marquis and his wife Caroline of Athol; grandchildren, Noah Foster-Marquis and Hannah Foster-Marquis of Greenfield, Josette Petrin, Sean Petrin, Sara Petrin of Sunapee; sister in-law, Barbara Marquis of Athol; nieces and nephews, many; grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years:  Mary (Pedrazzi) Marquis; son: Richard D. Marquis, Jr. in 1991, two daughters: Kimberly A. Marquis in 2003, Karen J. Marquis in 2007, two brothers: Edward Marquis, Leo Marquis, brother in-law, Morris Robichaud; sister in-law:  Helen Marquis. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Rd., Orange.  Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Our Lady Immaculate Church - Building Fund, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331.
