LEOMINSTER- Richard T. Secino, D.D.S., 91, of Leominster, died Saturday, November 25, after a long illness.
Dr. Secino was born August 22, 1927, in Fitchburg son of the late Thomas and Emma (Pezzolesi) Secino and brother to the late Dr. Robert Secino and Col. Joseph Secino. He was a graduate of Fitchburg High School class of 1946. He served in the Army Air Corps.
He attended Worcester Academy where he lettered in football. Dr. Secino also attended Tufts Dental School for one year before transferring to and graduating from Loyola University.
Dr. Secino was a member and past President of Central Mass Dental Society, and Central Mass Dental Study Group. He practiced dentistry locally for over 40 years before his retirement. He took great pride and satisfaction in his work and loved his practice and patients. He loved to dance and you could find Dick and his wife the first couple on the dance floor to get the crowd up on their feet and join with them. He found pleasure as well in skiing, fishing, golf, and was extremely passionate about woodworking.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia (Cronin) Secino; Seven children, Mitchell Secino, Thomas Secino and wife, Colleen of Newburyport, Martin Secino and wife, Melissa of Leominster, Catherine Riley of Jamestown, RI, Richard Secino, Jr. of Leominster, Paula O’Donnell and husband, Peter of Hawi, HI, and David Secino of Fitchburg; two stepchildren, Frank Hamer and wife Fran Fitchburg, and Colleen Hamer of Leominster; eight grandchildren, Alyssa Riley, Kevin Riley, Nina Secino, Cali Secino, Christopher O’Donnell, Daniel O’Donnell, Briana Cormier, and Kayla Hamer; one great granddaughter, Willow Grace Oldenquist. He is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn Chester of FL and Betty Ann Rhodes of Manhattan; his former wife, Sally Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
The funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 28, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Fitchburg.
Calling hours are Tuesday, November 27, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster.
