RICHARD E. WILSON ATHOL- Richard E. Wilson, 79, of 71 Kennebunk Street, died Friday at home following an illness. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Verda (Blanchard) Wilson, two daughters, Kathleen, wife of John Homon of Alliance, Ohio, and Joan, wife of Michael Connors of Uxbridge; a son, Richard, husband of Leslie Wilson of Hollis, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, McKenzie Connors, Molly Connors, Andrea Wilson, and Christopher Wilson.; a brother-in-law, Clarence Blaisdell of Londonderry, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Templeton, Aug. 31, 1922, son of I. Evan and Catherine (Danahy) Wilson, and was a lifelong resident of Athol. A United States Marines veteran of World War II, he served as a corporal under Admirals Halsey and Calhoun in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Mr. Wilson owned and operated Wilson Construction Company in Athol for several years. He then was superintendent at Tyler Millworks in Orange, and later was a sales representative for K. D. Wholesale Cabinets in Medford, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church where he assisted with CCD activities. He was a past member of the Athol Rotary Club. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School Street. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Our Lady Immaculate Church Building Fund, 192 School Street, Athol, MA 01331, or to a charity of one's choice. $(document).ready(function(){ });
