Rita was born June 5, 1927, in St. Louis de Kent, New Brunswick, daughter of the late Exuperence and Louise (Babineau) Savoie. She attended New Brunswick schools. She was a dedicated member of St. Cecilia’s Parish and the Ladies of St. Anne. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the loves of her life.
Her husband of 58 years, Ben J. Daigle, died May 13, 2003. She was also predeceased by her son, George Daigle, her brothers, Arthur, Alyre, Aurele, Ernest, Rufino, Joseph, and Emile, and her sisters, Marie Gaudet, and Catherine Duval.
Rita enjoyed knitting, quilting, baking for her family and travelling to her cottage in New Brunswick with her husband to spend summers there. She was very proud of her Acadian heritage.
She leaves her daughters, Ginette LeBlanc and her husband, Bertin, Georgette Maillet and her husband, Ronald, all of Leominster, and Gisele Breton and her husband, Andre of Gardner; nine grandchildren, Stephen LeBlanc, LeanneLeBlanc Perla, Robert Maillet, Andrew Maillet, Monique Maillet Courtemanche, Nadine Daigle Guitard, Marc Daigle, David Breton, and Greg Breton; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 4-6pm in the Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St. Leominster. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 10am in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St. Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.
