Leominster- Rita M. Arpin, 92, of Leominster, passed away suddenly at The Manor on the Hill Assisted Living on Thursday, September 6, 2012.
Rita was born on January 21, 1920, in Fitchburg to the late Antoine and Evangeline (Leger) Leger. She attended St. Francis School in Fitchburg and started working at the former Cluet and Peabody Shirt Co. in Leominster for approximately 35 years. She then started working at the Charlton Chair Co. as a stitcher until her retirement in 1984.
Rita was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church in Leominster where she enjoyed working and playing bingo. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rita leaves behind her son Gerald T. Arpin of Leominster, her daughter Sandra Scopelliti and her husband Frank of Leominster, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years Albert Arpin, who died in 1990, a son Richard Arpin who died in 1974, three brothers and five sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012, from 5-7pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at 10:00am in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Leominster.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita’s name can be made to The St. Cecilia’s Restoration Fund, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA 01453 or may be left at the funeral home.
