She is predeceased by her husband Donald F. O'Brien Sr. who died in 2005, son Donald F. O'Brien Jr., and brothers Alfred. Edward, and Edmond.
Rita is survived by one son Paul O'Brien and wife Cheryl of Gardner; daughter, Sharon (O'Brien) Cieslak and husband Brad of Windham, ME; and daughter-in- law Leslie Parrot and husband Wesley of Keene, NH; three granddaughters, Maureen LeBlanc and partner Doug of Gardner, Shannon O'Brien and husband Bob of Warwick, RI and Seanna O'Brien of Phillipston; and grandsons, Aaron Cieslak of Windham, ME, and Nicholis of Florida; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Kimberly, Austin, Mason, Lucas; and one great-great granddaughter Aaliyah; several nieces, nephews and Theresa Gautreau of Templeton, MA, a very special friend.
She was born on February 12, 1924, the daughter of the late Etienne and Rosanna (LaBonte) Fournier. She has lived in Baldwinville all of her life.
She was secretary and bookkeeper for School Union #1, which later became Narragansett Regional School District. Previously she worked as a payroll clerk for the former Temple Stuart Co. Rita was a graduate of the former Templeton High School, class of 1942.
Rita was a charter member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Baldwinville where she played the organ for over 25 plus years. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and watching nature in her back yard.
Calling hours will be held on Monday August 21, 2023 at Mack Family Funeral Home, 105 Central Street, Gardner, MA from 9:30-11:00. Followed by a funeral mass held at 11:30 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville, MA 01436.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville, MA.
