ATHOL - Rita A. (Frenette) Parenteau, 78 of 416 Main St., Athol, died Friday, November 13, 2009 in the Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol.
She was born in Berlin, NH, on July 21, 1931, the daughter of the late Alfred and the late Diane (Pinette) Frenette.
Mrs. Parenteau moved to Athol when she was 8 years old. She lived in Turners Falls for 28 years, moving back to Athol in 1978.
She worked for L.S. Starrett Company from 1979-1996 as an office clerk, retiring in1996.
She was a member of Athol Golden Ages and volunteered at the senior meal site. She was a communicant of Our Lady Immaculate Church.
She leaves one daughter: Lynn A. Thiem and husband Robert of Athol; four sons: Roland F. Parenteau of Amesbury, Stephen R. Parenteau and wife Linda of Windham, ME, Raymond C. Parenteau of Nottingham, NH, Richard A. Parenteau and wife Lori of North Yarmouth, ME: two sisters: Lena Blanchard and Irene Roussel both of Athol; twelve grandchildren: Christie Och and husband Jason of West Newbury, Ryan Parenteau of Amesbury, Janelle Parenteau of Merrimack, Sarah Parenteau and Marshall Parenteau both of Windham, ME, Amanda Parenteau and Alexander Parenteau both of North Yarmouth, Joslyn Thiem, Jordyn Thiem, Jeffrey Thiem, Jaret Thiem and Jamison Thiem all of Athol; one great granddaughter: Sofie Rose Och and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her two brothers: Raymond Frenette who died in 1996 and Leo Frenette who died in 2009, and one sister: Evelyn Begor who died in 2007.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol.
Calling Hours are will be held Monday, November 16, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., Athol.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Boston Eye Bank, 3 Longfellow Place, Boston, MA 02114-2401.
