Robert H. Anderson Athol – Robert H. Anderson, 89, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner.       Bob was born in Gardner, MA, May 18, 1925, the son of Robert F. and Amanda (Lindell) Anderson.  He grew up in Gardner where he attended Gardner schools and since 1948 has resided in Athol.         He worked for the former Union Twist Drill for many years and also for Flannagan Bus Company in Gardner for several years.   He was a member of the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church, the Wheelman Antique Bicycle Club and was Scout Master of Troop # 16.  Bob had many hobbies, including woodworking, miniature furniture, antique clock repair, Nantucket baskets and restoring boats and canoes.  He enjoyed many camping vacations with his family, especially to Cape Cod.          His wife of 52 years, Janice H. (Renwick) Anderson died in 2001.  He leaves a son Bruce Anderson and his wife Kathy of Unity, ME; three grandchildren, Michael Anderson and his partner Leigh, and Mary Anderson, both of Unity, ME and Henry Anderson and his wife Katie of Cornish, ME; a great granddaughter, Carly; his loving companion, Phyllis Bouthot of Orange and several nieces and nephews.  Besides his wife he was predeceased by a daughter, Jane Anderson in 1979, three sisters, Bertha, Elfie and Elin, a step-brother, Otto and a step-sister, Edith.       Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main Street, Athol with the Rev. Freda Maier officiating.  Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery and there will be a calling hour from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Starrett Memorial United Methodist Church Living Memorial Fund, 40 Island Street, Athol, MA 01331.   For further information or to share a memory with the family go to: www.higginsoconnorfuneralhome.com.   $(document).ready(function(){ });
