Leominster- Robert W. Dufour, 90, of Lunenburg, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully in the Life Care Center of Leominster on Saturday, December 29, 2012.
Robert was born in Leominster on September 29, 1922 to the late George Dufour and the late Claire (Camden) Dufour. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1941 and entered into the United States Navy in 1942 where he served during World War II as a Pharmacist’s Mate First Class and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Robert was self-employed and proud owner and operator of Robert W. Dufour Used Cars and Parts with 24-hour towing Service in Lancaster for over 50 years. He enjoyed working on cars and served for many years on the board of directors for the State Wide Towing Association.
Robert leaves behind his loving wife, Elizabeth Stebbins-Dufour, three daughters; Joanne Rich and her husband, Thomas of Phillipston, MA, Linda Duggan of Brattleboro, VT, Elaine Foster of Stuart, FL; three grandchildren, Hilary Hulme and her husband, Gabe, Evan Duggan, Adam Rich and his wife, Kelly: four great-grandchildren, Felix Hunter Hulme, Fergus Hulme, Christian Thomas Rich, and Landon Micah Rich; one sister Pauline Duplease of DuBois, PA and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Therese (Maillet) Dufour, five brothers and four sisters.
Calling hours will be held from the Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker Street, Leominster on Saturday January 5, 2013 from 5pm – 7pm with a Funeral Service immediately following at 7pm in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held in the spring at the Massachusetts Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Winchendon, MA.
