Robert N. Gagne

ATHOL- Robert N. Gagne, Jr., 72, of Athol, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 29. Bob was born March 17, 1946, son of the late Robert N. and Irene (LeBlanc) Gagne. He was a 1963 graduate of Fitchburg High School and worked for Time Warner Cable for over 40 years before his retirement. Bob grew up in Fitchburg, MA, but spent most of his life in Athol, MA where he was an active member of the community. He coached Little League and basketball and served on the Board of the United Way. He and his wife, Linda, were active members of Our Lady Immaculate Church, where they served together as Eucharistic Ministers. Bob also spent many years teaching religious education to local Christian youth. Bob leaves his beloved wife, Linda S. (Linenkemper) Gagne, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October; one daughter, Amy Williams and her husband, Ben of Belchertown; two sons, Brett Gagne and his wife, Erin of West Springfield, and Chad Gagne and his wife, Megan of Erving; seven grandchildren, Aiden and Allison Gagne, Valerie, Madeline, and Benjamin Williams, and Emma and Jack Gagne; two brothers, Paul Gagne and his wife, Deb, Donald Gagne and his wife, Barbara, all of Fitchburg; four sisters, Aline Washburn of Alburgh, VT, Joan Arsenault and her husband, Yvon of Moncton, New Brunswick, Ann Rantakyto and her husband, Reijo, and Pauline Contois and her husband, John, all of Fitchburg; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by two brothers, David and Dennis Gagne, two sisters, Rose Wright and Jean Hachey, and four nieces and nephews, Eric and Tina Rantakyto, Joel Contois and Christopher Hachey. Bob truly loved life in every way, spending most of his free time helping others, enjoying his family and friends, and traveling with his loving wife and soul mate, Linda. Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol.
