LEOMINSTER - Robert F. Guillemette, 76 of Leominster died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 7, 1940 in Leominster the son of Hector and Albanie (Bergeron) Guillemette. Robert grew up in Leominster and graduated from Saxton Trade School in Leominster. He enlisted in the Navy after graduation serving from 1958-1962 surviving Typhoon Nancy while at sea. He worked for over 25 years for Digital Equipment Corporation before retiring. He was a lifetime member of the Leominster Franco American War Veterans. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always telling a joke to make everyone laugh. He loved playing cards, bowling, spending time out on the water, and was an avid fan of all the Boston sports teams. He leaves two daughters, Christine M. Fahey and her husband Russ of Ashburnham, Amy L. Godin and her husband Kevin of Leominster; one son, Jason R. Guillemette and his wife Angela of Fitchburg; two brothers Marcel Guillemette of Leominster, Paul Guillemette of Chicago, Illinois; three sisters, Rita Booth of Georgetown Florida, Sister Marie Pauline Guillemette of Putnam Connecticut, Jeanine MacCartney of Haines City Florida; eight grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Brandon, Robert, Kathleen, Jacob, Andrew, Alexandra; his former wife, Margaret A. Guillemette of Leominster and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Jeannette Guillemette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 at 10 AM in St. Cecilia's Church 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial with full military honors will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. Calling hours will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Simard Funeral Home 14 Walker St., Leominster. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
