GARDNER: Dr. Robert N. Latour D.S., 75 of 219 Bickford Hill Road died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 in his home surrounded by his loving family following an illness. He was born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania on July 11, 1932, the son of the late Adrian and Therese (Comtois) Latour. He has resided in Gardner since 1966. A graduate from Classical High School in Worcester in 1950, he then graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1954 with his Bachelors degree and McGill University School of Dentistry in 1961. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the United States Army from 1954-1956 as a private first class. Dr. Latour had a private dental practice in Gardner for 32 years retiring in 1998. Dr. Latour was a member of many professional associations including the Wachusett District Dental Society, the Massachusetts Dental Association and Central New England Research Group. He was a member of the Gardner Boat Club, the Chair City Club, the Gardner Museum, the Wednesday Golf Group, the Gardner American Legion Post #129, a former member and past King Lion of the Gardner Lions Club, and a member of Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg. Dr. Latour was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Dr. Latour was known as an avid fisherman, skier, tennis player, golfer, and couples bridge player. He was deeply involved with his family and grandchildren and will be greatly missed. Dr. and Mrs. Latour were married on July 13, 1963. He leaves his wife of 44 years: Janet P. (Richmond) Latour of Gardner, two sons: Robert N. Latour and his wife, Phyllis of Ashburnham and Peter J. Latour and his fiance, Rafaella Sandoval of Manhattan Beach, CA; two daughters: Dr. Debra A. Campbell and her husband, James of Woodstock, CT, and Amy C. Weber and her husband Jay of Glastonbury CT; a sister Arlene Norman and her husband John of West Bend, WI; six grandchildren, Emily and Justin Latour, Hunter, Ethan and Paige Campbell and Evan Weber. He was predeceased by a brother Paul Latour. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 from the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will be held in the Massachusetts Veteran's Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home. The family requests that donations in Dr. Latour's memory be made to the Greater Gardner Visiting Nurses Association Hospice Program, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440 or to the Palliative Care Room, Heywood Hospital, 242 Green St., Gardner, MA 01440 or may be left at the funeral home.
