GARDNER - Robert W. McIntosh, 100, formerly of Gardner, MA and Kennebunk, ME, died in the early morning of November 4, 2016 at Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, MA.
He was born in Winchendon on September 16, 1916, the first child of the late Bertha and James McIntosh.
In his early years, Robert was raised in Gardner and attended Gardner High School. He worked for Heywood Wakefield Company and retired after 35 years as an employee of Simplex Time Recorder. While living in Gardner, Robert served as a Senior Warden at St. Paul's Episcopal church for several years.
With his beloved wife Mary (Hojnowski) McIntosh of 75 years, the couple retired to Kennebunk, ME. With the help of their son and friends, the couple built a home where they remained for 30 years, taking anniversary trips to Bar Harbor. Clearing and landscaping their 3 acres of land was a pleasant chore. Every Sunday they spent the day with Robert’s mother in Mass, even after moving to Maine.
His 100th birthday was a huge success. His cake was made by his granddaughter and the 3 nips of scotch was also a pleasant surprise.
He leaves one daughter: Carolyn Fratturelli of NH; one son: James McIntosh and his wife Mary of Gardner; four granddaughters; five great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons.
He was predeceased by his wife last year and his 3 siblings: Rawford, Catherine and Aubrey.
