  ATHOL - Robert A. “Bob” Morin, 79 of 739 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 in the Farren Care Center, Turners Falls. He was born in Greenville, NH, on March 24, 1933, the son of the late Antoine and the late Henedine (Fongemie) Morin.  His parents came to this country from Canada. He was a long time member of Sacred Heart Church in Greenville, NH as an altar boy and served both masses in English and French.  He was presently a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Athol. He graduated from Appleton Academy in New Ipswich, NH. He served during Korean War in the Army from 1950 to 1953   He lived in Fitchburg for several years before moving to Worcester.  He retired from Commonwealth Gas in 1989 after 27 years of service.  It was a great company to work for.  He previously worked as manager of Singer Sewing Machine in Worcester. Mr. Morin has resided in Athol since 1992.  He loved going bike riding with his friend Clesson Lang to many of the gates at the Quabbin Reservoir. He leaves his wife of 30 years, Margaret “Peg” (Horan) Morin, three daughters: Linda Shaughnessy and her husband Thomas of Holden and their daughter Christina Morin of Worcester, Joyce A. Berube and her husband Vincent of Sutton and her daughters Rose Morin of Webster and Alexandra Baldwin of Northbridge, Diane P. Summers and her husband Joseph and their son Matthew of Rutland, one son, Michael Morin and his wife Patricia and their children, Paige and Hailey of Holden, two step sons, Michael D. Hazen and his wife Josanna and their children Veronica and Zachary of Oakham and Kayla Hazen of Worcester, Donald M. Hazen and his son Liam  of Worcester, one step daughter, Jean May and her husband Randy and their daughters Amanda and Olivia of Barre; four great grandchildren; brother in-law, Gilbert Duschenes of Milford, NH; two nieces, Phyllis Ogrodnik of Portland, ME, Rachel Sullivan of Milford, NH; three nephews, Maurice Lizotte of Gardner, Richard Ogrodnik of Windham, ME, Robert Deschenes and his wife Sharon of Rindge, NH. He was predeceased by five sisters, Lucienne Lizotte and her husband Jean, Rita Newell and her husband Ernest, Rose Ogrodnik and her husband Walter, Theresa Caouette and her husband Ernest and Yvette Duschenes. Relatives and friends are invited to join Bob’s family for a calling hour at the Fiske-Murphy & Mack Funeral Home, 110 New Athol Road, Orange on Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 101 Main St., Athol.  Burial will be private in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Bob’s memory to St. Francis of Assisi Church – Building Fund, c/o Our Lady Immaculate Church, 192 School St., Athol, MA 01331. The family can’t thank the staff at the Farren Care Center enough for the wonderful care given Bob while he was a resident there.  They go that extra mile, would love to name them all but there were too many.  Yes, extra special ones know who they are!  Have been to many nursing homes but Farren is the best!  Thank you all, love you all.  In Bob’s final days he was in the care of hospice, Bob and I were both treated with such respect and dignity by the nurses and social worker.
