GARDNER - Robert W. Nivala, 73, of 101 Pelley St., died Monday, May 19, 2008 at University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare in Worcester. He was born in Gardner, on May 27, 1934 to the late Toivo W. and Cecile (Savoie) Nivala. He was a graduate of Gardner High School Class of 1952. He married his wife, Jacqueline K. (Larson) Nivala on July 3, 1954. He was an expediter for General Electric Company in Fitchburg. He was a member of the Gardner Lodge of Elks #1426, and the Quarter Century Club of General Electric in Fitchburg. He was a former Boy Scout leader, and altar server at Sacred Heart Church and received the Alta Dare award. He was a former member of Holy Spirit Church. He enjoyed spending time and with his family and grandchildren, and spending time on the computer. He leaves his wife, Jacqueline K. (Larson) Nivala; three sons, Gary R. and his wife Deborah of Gardner, Gregg R. and his wife Cynthia of Midothian, Virginia, Eric J. of Gardner; one daughter Catherine and husband Leslie Stewart of gardner, four grandchildren, Nicholas R., Patrick F. Robert C., Deirdre Anne Nivala. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., Gardner. Burial in Wildwood Cemetery will be private. Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 22, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
